2026 Active Transportation Symposium

It was great to be at the Active Transportation Symposium and to have several Stuckless Consulting Inc. projects on the agenda. The event was hosted by the Ontario Traffic Council (OTC) on September 21, 2026 in Toronto.

Event highlights include:

  • Sharing lessons learned from a small town neighbourhood bikeway pilot project with Nick Sully of WSP Canada.

  • Moderating an insightful conversation of non-profit leaders about the overlooked experience of non-profits in active transportation.

  • Having Stuckless Consulting’s work on Durham Region’s new Bicycle Parking Guidelines shared in a presentation by Christina Johansson (WSP Canada) and Chris Leitch (Durham Region).

  • Connecting with active transportation colleagues from across Ontario and hearing about work underway to advance road safety.

Another highlight of the trip was a pre-conference bike tour I took with Michael Longfield of Cycle Toronto. Michael generously showed me around some of Toronto’s newest cycling infrastructure, including new bike infrastructure to Biidaasige Park. It was impressive to say the least.

Riding around on an electric bike share bike, I couldn't quite get over the number of people out enjoying the sunny Sunday afternoon by bike. The bike lanes and sidewalks were full of people, and I couldn’t stop smiling.
