In October, I had the chance to make my first work trip to Manitoba to participate in the Transportation Association of Canada’s annual conference. It was an insightful week of learning and making connections alongside 1,500 transportation professionals.
Highlights from the week included:
🚧 Connecting with members of the Canadian LeadHERs in Road Safety group for engaging conversations over dinner.
💬 Hearing from fellow parents about their experiences navigating public space after my presentation on what I've learned pushing a stroller.
🚲 Sharing lessons learned from a small town neighbourhood bikeway pilot project with my colleague Nick Sully of WSP Canada.
💡 Presenting key insights on planning for e-bikes at the Active Transportation Integrated Committee and Mobility Council meetings as part of a volunteer project I have been leading with TAC.
It's always a pleasure to be part of this gathering and to connect with colleagues who are passionate about mobility.
A huge shout out to Katy Schram and Jacob Malleau for your efforts organizing and moderating the sessions I was part of. Thanks also to Samantha Langford, Muna Awatta, and members of the ATIC working group for supporting our e-bike report.
Next year 🛫 Halifax (November 28 to December 1). Until then, I will be working to implement the lessons learned throughout the conference, and build on the connections I made.
