Bike Month 2026!
What made Bike Month special for me this year? It wasn't any one individual event, but the feeling I got while compiling this list and realizing just how often biking brings me happiness and connection with community (as well as to the places I need to go).
Some highlights:
☀️ We kicked things off at the Bike Day event at Hamilton City Hall with 400 enthusiastic participants.
🎶 We rode in the Bike for Mike Kidical Mass 5km ride accompanied by a live band that travelled alongside us in a Cycling Without Age trishaw, and then enjoyed King St as an Open Street, running into so many people along the way.
🏳️🌈 🏳️⚧️ My family once again joined the Pride Ride organized by Hamilton Bike Share to celebrate June being Pride Month and Bike Month. My firm also donated to Rainbow Railroad through a campaign organized by my colleague Sarah Giacomantonio (donate here, Sarah is almost at her fundraising goal!!: https://lnkd.in/g9Rev9pe)
📊 Stuckless Consulting Inc. sponsored the great work of Vélo Canada Bikes and their Pedal Poll count of bikes and micromobility devices, which took place during the first week of Bike Month.
🚲 I picked up a bike trailer for some longer distance bike adventures, and my daughter started practicing on her first ever pedal bike. Both are new-to-us items from generous biking colleagues.
🌇 I joined a social biking group and enjoyed a beautiful sunset ride along the waterfront.
🍦 And I rode my trusty e-bike around town on our growing cycling network to soccer practice, daycare, swim lessons, meetings, friend meet-ups, and to the ice cream shop.
📝 Oh, I guess I did a bunch of bike-related work too. More on that elsewhere on the blog.
A huge thank you to everyone who put in the time to coordinate Bike Month events and to advocate for safer cycling in Hamilton.
Happy Bike Month everyone!
